GRANITE FALLS, NC (May 7, 2019) — FCW will have an Open House on Friday, May 10, 4-9PM and Saturday, May 11, 10AM-6PM. Though visitors are welcome any time, at the Open House’s there is food, tours, activities, and demonstrations. Invite friends and come out to see progress since the fire. This event is free and open to the public.
Foothills Community Workshop (FCW) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization composed of people who enjoy making things. We are a Makerspace / Hackerspace for the North Carolina Foothills. For more information on Makerspaces / Hackerspaces in general, go to www.makerspaces.com or www.hackerspaces.org
FCW has the people, equipment, tools and resources to help you with projects involving Science, computers, technology, woodworking, electronics, metal working, digital or electronic art, robotics, models and other areas. We meet, socialize, collaborate, teach and build.
We hold classes for the community and learn from each other.
Our shops and space are available to members 24/7. Conveniently located in Granite Falls, North Carolina.
Current shops/areas include: a CNC machine shop; a woodworking shop; an electronics shop; a Ham Radio station (K4FCW); a model shop; a model railroad; a lounge area; Science Center, and a classroom. Our current membership is skilled in analog and digital electronics, woodworking, machining (both CNC and manual), construction, computer hardware, programming, robotics, model making, mask and costume making.
Additional equipment includes: welders, 3D printers, laser cutters, CNC wood routers, and HO and O scale model railroads.
