Fatality reported following accident involving pedestrian in Lenoir

LENOIR, NC (November 5, 2018) — On November 3, 2018 at around 9:00 PM, officers from the Lenoir Police Department were dispatched to a motor vehicle crash involving a pedestrian. The crash occurred on Wilkesboro Boulevard near Jason Mart, located at 162 Wilkesboro Boulevard. The initial investigation into the crash shows the pedestrian, 55-year-old Thomas Stevenson, was crossing the roadway when he was struck by a 2009 Toyota Scion driven by 26-year-old Jason Hamby. Hamby was traveling east on Wilkesboro Boulevard in the left lane. Stevenson was pronounced dead at the scene. There have been no charges related to the crash at this time. The Lenoir Police Department is continuing to investigate this matter.
