Deputy Chief Steve Moore named as Interim Hickory Fire Chief

HICKORY, NC (September 17, 2018) — City Manager Warren Wood has appointed Deputy Chief Steve Moore to serve as Interim Fire Chief, effective October 1, following the retirement of Fire Chief Fred Hollar.

Deputy Chief Moore will serve as Interim Fire Chief until the search for a permanent Fire Chief is completed later this year. 

Moore began his career with the City of Hickory in 1999. Since 2009, he has served in the position of Deputy Chief of Fire Prevention, as well as Operations. 

When asked about his appointment, Deputy Chief Moore stated, “It is an honor and a privilege to serve as a bridge until a new chief is appointed.”
