Deputies respond to a shooting in Lenoir
LENOIR, NC (June 26, 2019) — On June 26, 2019 at 2:10 am, Deputies with Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office responded to a shooting call located at 1665 Old North Road in Lenoir. Deputies located the victim, Rocky Daniel Penley, age 30 at the scene who was suffering from a gunshot wound. Deputies also located the shooter involved in the incident, Donovan Jamal McGill, age 27. Investigators responded to the scene and it was determined that shooting occurred in the driveway to the residence and stemmed from an argument. Penley was flown to Carolina Medical Center where he remains in critical condition.
Donovan Jamal McGill, age 27, has been charged with one count of Assault with a Deadly Weapon Inflicting Serious Injury with Intent to Kill. He is being held at the Caldwell County Detention Center under a $100,000.00 Secured Bond. His first appearance in District Court in Lenoir is Scheduled for 06/27/2019.
