City of Lenoir hires Brenda Floyd as next Main Street Director

LENOIR, NC (March 12, 2024) ⇒ The City of Lenoir has hired Brenda Floyd to serve as the next Downtown Economic Development / Main Street Director.

As Main Street Director, Mrs. Floyd will oversee the City’s Main Street Program, downtown events, and various local grant programs. She will supervise one staff member and serve as liaison between the City and the Downtown Lenoir Development Alliance. Mrs. Floyd will also serve as the staff member on the Lenoir Business Advisory Board and the Lenoir Tourism Development Authority.

Mrs. Floyd has more than 15 years of experience in planning and implementing community events. Since 2022, she has been the Director of Catering & Events at Linville Ridge Country Club. She worked for 11 years at Caldwell Community College & Technical Institute. She served in various positions at the college including Director of Auxiliary Services and Director of the J.E. Broyhill Civic Center. She has managed many facilities, conferences, events, and staff during her career.

City Manager Scott Hildebran said Mrs. Floyd’s experience and ties to the community make her a great fit for the Main Street Department.

“Brenda’s experience with managing events, staff, and programs is a great match for what we’re looking for in a new Main Street Director,” City Manager Hildebran said. “She is very familiar with the community, our Downtown events and programs, the City leadership team, and other local leaders. She’s attended N.C. Main Street Conferences in the past, and she’s attending this year’s conference in Goldsboro this week. I’m confident that Brenda will be able to continue and build on the great accomplishments of our Main Street Program.”

Mrs. Floyd and her husband, Bo, have lived in Lenoir since 1998. The couple has three adult daughters, Taylor, Sydney, and Parker, all whom graduated from Hibriten High School. Brenda and Bo have been active in the community since they returned to Lenoir from college. Her girls attended preschool in Downtown Lenoir, and she has volunteered for countless downtown events and groups including the Bridge-to-Bridge Incredible Challenge, Lenoir Service League, Halloween events, and the annual Christmas Parade. For the past several years, Mrs. Floyd has served as a member of the Lenoir Tourism Development Authority.

Mrs. Floyd said she’s looking forward to joining the City of Lenoir and working on Downtown programs and events.

“I see myself as someone who focuses on finding and implementing effective ways to solve problems while collaborating well with others,” Mrs. Floyd said. “I really enjoyed volunteering for Downtown projects and events, and I always wanted to do the best we could for the community. I love the community pride and the people here in Lenoir and I want to be a part of that. I want to continue the momentum of the Main Street Program and make Downtown Lenoir a place where everyone wants to come to do business, have fun, and spend time together.”

Mrs. Floyd came from a military family. She was born in Hawaii and grew up in Montana. As a child she lived in various places across the country including Washington, DC, and North Carolina. She spent many summers vacationing at North Topsail Beach on the Carolina coast.

In their free time, Brenda and Bo like to hike, golf, travel, and cook. Brenda plays league tennis with the United States Tennis Association and she’s a voracious reader of biographies and historical fiction.

Her first day with the City will be Monday, March 18.
