LENOIR, NC (03/30/2017)…Caldwell County Health Department received a 100% immunization compliance rate and the county received an 86% compliance rate. This is based on the percentage of children up-to-date by 24 months of age for the required vaccination series (4DTaP, 3 Polio, 1 MMR, 3 Hep B, 1 Var, and 4 PCV). The compliance rate is defined as a percentage of a distinct, eligible population with documented protection against specific vaccine-preventable diseases. Congratulations to all staff who contributed to this achievement, especially Caldwell County Health Department’s Immunization Coordinator, Leslie Wilson. Ms. Wilson is responsible for coordinating immunization tracking and follow-up activities in Caldwell County such as contacting parents or caregivers to follow up on needed immunizations and collaborating with medical providers to coordinate immunization follow-up.
Getting immunized is important to protect yourself and to protect those around you. Vaccines are the best way to prevent infectious disease. Immunizations or Vaccines are made to stimulate your immune system to produce antibodies to fight off disease. After getting vaccinated, you develop immunity to that disease. This makes vaccines a powerful medicine that prevents disease. We recommend that everyone receives recommended vaccines.
If you have questions regarding vaccines, please contact Caldwell County Health Department at 828-426-8400.
