Student Talent Show Fundraiser
Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute’s Student Government Association will host a fundraising talent show at 7 p.m., Friday, Nov. 4 at the JE Broyhill Civic Center in Lenoir. There will be local judges and 15 student acts scheduled. The event is open to the public and admission is free. The SGA will accept donations with proceeds benefiting Hurricane Matthew victims.

Spring Registration Starts Soon
Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute will begin registering new students for the Spring 2017 semester on Thursday, Nov. 17 on both the Caldwell and Watauga Campuses. The new student registration period will continue through Jan. 4, followed by a Final Registration session on Jan. 5. Spring classes begin on Monday, Jan. 9. A variety of financial aid options are available for students who qualify. Old-Time Christmas Course
The Continuing Education and Workforce Development Division at Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute will offer “Old-Time Christmas” from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Mondays from Nov. 21 to Dec. 5. The class will be taught by Landscape Gardening Program Director Debbie Mitchell and will cover the creation of holiday decorations from plants, bulb forcing and how to make herbal gifts. Craft Brewing 101
The Corporate and Continuing Education Department at Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute will offer Craft Brewing 101 beginning Thursday, Nov. 10. The class will meet as follows: Nov. 10 from 6 to 8 p.m. on the Caldwell Campus of CCC&TI; Saturday, Nov. 12 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Howard Brewing in Lenoir; Thursday, Dec. 1 from 6 to 8 p.m. at CCC&TI; and Saturday, Dec. 17 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Howard Brewing for Tasting and Critique. Caldwell Cuisine Fundraiser
Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute’s Culinary Arts program will host the final installment of the Fall Caldwell Cuisine series on Thursday, Nov. 17 at 6 p.m. at the J.E. Broyhill Civic Center in Lenoir. A portion of the proceeds raised will benefit Hurricane Matthew relief efforts. Dinner is $21 plus tax per person. • Main Course: Choice of Jerk Pork Chops (grilled pork chops in jerk seasoning) served with Jamaican cabbage (cabbage with onions, bell peppers and carrots, sautéed with herbs and spices) and rice OR Jamaican Red Stripe Beef Stew (beef chunks stewed in Red Stripe beer, vegetables, and herbs and spices served in the middle of the bowl with white rice.

College Compass Presents ‘Grouchy Scrooge’
The College Compass Program at Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute will host free performances of “Grouchy Scrooge” on Nov. 17 at the J.E. Broyhill Civic Center. Show times will be at 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. Admission is free, but donations will be accepted. College Compass classes are designed for adults who wish to improve their academic and independent living skills. The classes are planned to help students acquire basic skills to develop abilities needed to become more independent and self-directed and to meet and manage community, social, work, and personal adult responsibilities.
