HUDSON, NC (February 20, 2017)…As the South Caldwell basketball stars advanced to the second round to face Freedom at their place, most everyone knows by now that both Spartans’ squads were eliminated in the conference tourney, yet not without a solid showing from these athletes.
In the girls matchup, while the Lady Patriots prevailed by the count of 45-32, the trio of Mackenzie Starnes, Hope Lail, and Brooke Williams scored ten points each. Go get some more in your first round NCHSAA Class 4A game as the Lady Spartans travel to Northeast Greensboro to face the Lady Pirates of Page High School.
The boys second round game commenced without the services of super seniors Alex Haigler and Jody Spears. Yet, the remainder of the boys varsity made for a difficult opponent for the Patriots, even cutting into their lead in the final period to a two-point deficit. Though moral victories do not count in the win column, Kaden Anderson led the Spartan arsenal with 21 point and super senior Ryder Martin added 20, making it a great challenge for the Northwestern 3A/4A tournament champs. The Spartans also have another game to play as they host the Bison of High Point Central this Tuesday, February 21, time TBA. Keep the drive alive and Spartan Nation is behind you one-hundred percent!
