HICKORY, NC (October 7, 2016)…Join firefighters from across the county to kickoff National Fire Prevention Week on Sunday, October 9 from 1:00 pm until 3:00 pm. Catawba county firefighters will be holding a special display in the parking lot of Home Depot located on Highway 70. During this free event, firefighters will be available to answer questions and to pass out fire safety materials.
Firefighters and fire trucks from Cooksville, Conover, Hickory, Maiden, and St. Stephen’s fire departments will be participating in the event. The Catawba County Emergency Services Fire/Rescue Division will have a vehicle on display and the Catawba Valley FOOL’s (Fraternal Order of Leatherheads Society) will also be available.
Catawba County Firefighter’s museum will have a display of antique fire equipment and Home Depot staff will host a free Kid’s Club event, where children can make their own emergency vehicle to take home. Foster’s Chuck Wagon will also be on site to provide participants the opportunity to purchase food during this fun event.
