Canning Classes Offered at Caldwell County Extension Center

LENOIR, NC (April 24, 2017)…Food preservation classes offered through NC Cooperative Extension.

Choose to attend one, two, or all three classes. Cost is $10 per class, or attend all 3 for $25.

Class one: Hands-on canning class, Monday, July 10th, 1 – 3 pm

Learn how to safely can produce during a hands-on class led by Extension Agent Margie Mansure. You will learn how to use both a pressure canner and a boiling water bath.

Class two: Pickle, chutney, and kraut making demonstration, Tuesday, July 11, 1 – 2:30 pm

Whether you have a productive garden, or just got a great deal at the farmers’ market, pickling is an easy and delicious way to put up the summer bounty. We will demonstrate several types of pickles, including dilly beans, a fruit chutney, and sauerkraut.

Class three: Hands-on jams and jellies class, Wednesday, July 12, 1 – 2:30 pm.
