Caldwell Hospice to Host Hospice Foundation of America’s Annual National Living With Grief® Program

HUDSON, NC (November 1, 2016)…Managing Conflict, Finding Meaning: Supporting Families at Life’s End Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care (CHPC) will host Hospice Foundation of America’s (HFA) annual Living With Grief® Program, “Managing Conflict, Finding Meaning: Support Families at Life’s End,” from 9 to 11:30 a.m., Tuesday, November 15, 2016, at Caldwell Hospice’s McCreary Family Professional Center, 526 Pine Mountain Road, Hudson, NC. The local event is offered at no cost in partnership with Pendry’s Lenoir Funeral Home and Sodexo/Caldwell UNC Health Care.

The emotionally-charged atmosphere during advanced illness and near death is filled with opportunity for new conflicts to emerge or old conflicts to resurface. This program emphasizes strategies to support families as they are dealing with a family member who is dying and grief after a death. This includes identifying and managing sources of conflict that emerge during the dying process as well as helping families find meaning at life’s end.

This year’s televised program is moderated by JoAnne Reifsnyder, PhD, ACHPN, a veteran panelist of several Living With Grief® programs. Reifsnyder will lead the panel of noted authorities that includes: Kenneth J. Doka, PhD, MDiv; Betty Ferrell, PhD, MA, FAAN, FPCN; and Betty J. Kramer, PhD, MSSW.

The program will conclude with an onsite 30-minute panel discussion with local and area professionals.

This program will be practical for all levels of professionals—entry level, intermediate or advanced. The information provided will be useful to health care clinicians, social service clinicians and others working in hospice, palliative care, counseling, hospital, nursing home, funeral home or faith community environments. Two and one half hours of continuing education credit are available to purchase until January 27, 2017 through HFA for nurses, social workers, counselors, clergy and more. For HFA’s list of board approvals, go to www.hospicefoundation.org.

The complimentary presentation is provided as part of Caldwell Hospice’s community bereavement services. Registration is required by November 14, 2016.
