Caldwell County Social Services releases Work First Electing Plan 2019-2022 for public review and comment

CALDWELL COUNTY, NC (November 9, 2017)…The Work First Planning Committee has released for public review and comment the proposed Work First Electing County Plan for FY 2019 – 2022. This plan has involved a lot of work and input from staff and committee members.

The program assists Work First families to move from welfare dependency to become self-sufficient. All counties in North Carolina for the Work First Program are considered “Standard” or “Electing.” Caldwell County will continue to be an “Electing County.” As an Electing County, we are given additional flexibility to establish eligibility requirements for the provision of cash assistance for citizens. Electing Counties also have flexibility over their state allocation of Work First funds.

The public review period for the Electing County plan runs from November 13th through November 17, 2017. A copy of the Electing Plan will be available at the Department of Social Services and on the department’s website during that week.

Following public review, the plan will go to the County Commission for final approval before being sent to the state. The deadline for submission is December 15th, 2017.
