Jones has announced on March 17, 2017, Agents with the Sheriff’s Office Ice Unit made arrests of Jackie Eugenia Byrd, age 39, and Shea David Byrd, age 43, of 4035 Grandin Road in Lenoir for the second time in less than two weeks on charges of trafficking methamphetamine. The Byrds, who have been under investigation by the Sheriff’s Office Ice Unit for suspicion of trafficking large amounts of methamphetamine, were arrested again as a result of an undercover operation conducted by the Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office Ice Unit. The Lenoir Police Department also assisted in the investigation.
Both Shea and Jackie Byrd were originally arrested on March 7, 2017, and charged with trafficking in methamphetamine as a result of a search of their home. During that search, Agents found and seized over 1 ½ pounds of methamphetamine.
During this investigation, Officers stopped the Byrds operating a 2008 GMC truck. Lenoir Police K-9 “Cerik” conducted a free air sniff around the truck and alerted. A search was conducted and approximately 3 pounds of methamphetamine was discovered concealed inside a four-wheeler tire in the bed of the truck. A small amount of methamphetamine was also discovered in the passenger area of the vehicle along with $3,500 cash and a loaded .22 caliber semi-automatic pistol. The methamphetamine has a street value over $214,200.00 according to North Carolina State Drug Guidelines. They are facing mandatory prison time if convicted in a court of law.
