Wednesday, Nov. 16
Story Time will be held today at 10am at Caldwell County Public Library in Lenoir. Children participate in stories, music, and games that encourage language and social development. Family History Research with Ancestry.com will be held from 3:00-4:00 pm in the Computer Training Lab at the Lenoir library. This single-session class for adults covers the various resources available to research your family history on the library’s Ancestry.com subscription. Students will learn to search census records, birth and death records, marriage and divorce records, military records, immigration records and even search school and church directories to locate information about ancestors. Tween Book Club will meet from 3:30-4:30 in the Library Program Room at the Lenoir library. Come join our new Tween Book Club at the Lenoir Library!! This book club is for anyone between the ages of 9 and 13. We’ll have fun discussing books, playing games, and eating snacks. Our book for November is “Rules” by Cynthia Lord. Coffee Talk Book Club will hold its final meeting for 2016 at Highland Coffee House in Downtown Lenoir at from 10-11:30 am. Join us for coffee and conversation where we discuss monthly book selections! November’s selection is “Nora Webster” by Colm Toibin. Coffee Talk Book Club meets on the 3rd Thursday of each month at 10:00am at Highland Coffee House in downtown Lenoir and will resume again in January. Everyone is welcome! Caldwell Language Exchange will be held today from 5:00 – 6:30 pm in Meeting Room 3 of the Lenoir library. For those who are trying to learn or improve their English AND for those who are trying to learn or improve their Spanish – finally a forum in which language learners unite to provide assistance to each other. Some vocabulary will be covered and then Participants will practice English and/or Spanish, with another participant. Attend with a friend! This FREE event is available to ages 15 and up.

Patron Artists at the Library Program presents Wire Sculpture Workshop. In an inaugural arts event for ages 16 and up, local artist Bev Mihelich will lead us in creating our very own sculptures made with annealed wire. These sculptures are perfect for home decor, holiday ornaments and gifts. Materials and instruction provided. Friends of the Library presents the Lost Sea Expedition at 10 am in Meeting Room 6 of the Lenoir library. Caldwell County resident Bernie Harberts has traveled across the US by mule twice. During his second voyage, Harberts filmed the 14 month trip from Canada to the Mexican border. Join Friends of the Library while we listen to the tale of how his story became “The Lost Sea Expedition,” a TV series airing early 2017. This event will serve as the Friends’ annual meeting.

Thanksgiving Craft will be held today in the Library Program Room at the Lenoir library from 3:30 to 4:30 pm. Come celebrate the week of Thanksgiving at the Lenoir Library! We’ll be making thank you cards and place cards for the Thanksgiving table while we watch Charlie Brown enjoy his Thanksgiving too. This free program is open to families with children.
