Caldwell County Emergency services places ems unit at Cajah’s Mountain Town Hall

LENOIR, NC (October 20, 2017)…Caldwell County has placed a two-person Emergency Medical Services (EMS) crew with an ambulance at Cajah’s Mountain Town Hall. The town hall is located at 1800 Connelly Springs Road, Lenoir.

The crew will operate out of the Town Hall building from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily. The crew will move to the Caldwell County Hudson EMS Base at 467 Redwood Street, in Hudson during the overnight hours.

“I feel that this is a ‘win, win’, for both the Cajah’s Mountain and Baton communities and EMS,” says Ed Anderson, Caldwell County EMS Division Chief. “With the number of EMS responses to this area of the county, having a unit stationed there will reduce response times. The town of Cajah’s Mountain and Mayor Setzer has been very helpful in making this transition a smooth one. We realize this is an area of the county that needs an EMS unit and hopefully we will continue to be here for the community.”

EMS staff spent Thursday moving into office space that is being provided by Cajah’s Mountain Town Hall.

“We have always wanted an ambulance based here in our community and we are more than pleased to provide the space needed,” says Ronnie Setzer, Mayor of the Town of Cajah’s Mountain. “Having the ambulance based right here in the community can make a huge difference with response time. We have told Caldwell County EMS that they can stay as long as they want, free of charge.”

This is EMS Crew 5 that was previously based at North Catawba Fire & Rescue. Cajah’s Mountain will join Gamewell, Sawmills and Collettsville, towns that all host EMS ambulance crews.

Citizens will continue to be provided the high level of pre-hospital care that they have come to expect from all agencies within Caldwell County, and the administration of Caldwell County and Caldwell County EMS will continue to investigate all options for locations to house EMS bases.
