Caldwell County Declares State of Emergency

LENOIR, NC (June 9, 2019 at 4:41pm) — Caldwell County, North Carolina has declared a State of Emergency due to the current flooding event. A State of Emergency allows the government entity to request and utilize operational resources to respond to the emergency and covers residual projects and repair costs stemming from the emergency. A State of Emergency is not an emergency evacuation order, a directive to close schools, a restriction on the sale of provision of goods or services, or an official order or instruction for citizens or businesses to take any particular action.

Caldwell County’s State of Emergency was declared and became effective at 10:00 a.m. on June 9th, 2019.

Caldwell County Emergency Management urges the community to:

  • Do not call 911 to report a power outage, contact your power provider.

  • Avoid areas already flooded, especially if the water is flowing fast. Do not attempt to cross flowing streams. Turn Around Don’t Drown.

  • NEVER drive through flooded roadways.

  • Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize flood dangers.

  • Pay attention to local media and social media outlets for road closures.
