Caldwell County Commissioners Pledge Support to 2020 Census

LENOIR, NC (September 13, 2019) — At their September meeting, Caldwell County Commissioners signed a proclamation pledging support to the 2020 Census and its goal to achieve a complete and accurate count of everyone living in the county.

Census data determines the number of seats each state will have in the U.S. House of Representatives and is necessary for accurate redistricting for state legislative districts. Additionally, federal and state funding is allocated based on this data.

By April 1, 2020, every home will receive an invitation to participate in the 2020 Census. Once the invitation arrives, citizens should respond for their home in one of three ways: online, by phone, or by mail. It is important to note that the Census Bureau will never:

• Ask for full Social Security numbers

• Ask for money or a donation

• Send requests on behalf of a political party

• Request PIN codes, passwords, or similar access information for credit cards, banks, or other financial accounts.
