Caldwell County and Municipalities State of Emergencies Issued

LENOIR, NC (September 15, 2018) — Caldwell County, North Carolina as well as all incorporated municipalities which include Blowing Rock, Cajah’s Mountain, Cedar Rock, Gamewell, Granite Falls, Hudson, Lenoir, Rhodhiss, and Sawmills have declared a State of Emergency in their respective municipalities due to Hurricane Florence and the anticipated impacts of heavy rains, flash flooding, high winds, and power outages. A State of Emergency allows the government entity to request and utilize operational resources to respond to the emergency and covers residual projects and repair costs stemming from the emergency. A State of Emergency is not an emergency evacuation order, a directive to close schools, a restriction on the sale of provision of goods or services, or an official order or instruction for citizens or businesses to take any particular action.

Caldwell County’s State of Emergency was declared and became effective at 5:00 p.m. on September 14, 2018.

The Town of Blowing Rock State of Emergency was declared and became effective at 12:00 p.m. on September 14, 2018.

The Town of Cajah’s Mountain State of Emergency was declared and became effective at 10:30 a.m. on September 15, 2018.

The Village of Cedar Rock State of Emergency was declared and became effective at 10:30 a.m. on September 15, 2018.

The Town of Gamewell State of Emergency was declared and became effective at 11:00 a.m. on September 15, 2018.

The Town of Granite Falls State of Emergency was declared and became effective on September 14, 2018.

The Town of Hudson State of Emergency was declared and became effective at 5:00 p.m. on September 14, 2018.

The City of Lenoir State of Emergency was declared and became effective at 5:00 p.m. on September 14, 2018.

The Town of Rhodhiss State of Emergency was declared at 3:00 p.m. on September 12, 2018 and became effective at 9:00 a.m. on September 12, 2018.

The Town of Sawmills State of Emergency was declared at 9:00 a.m. on September 15, 2018 and became effective at 10:00 a.m. on September 15, 2018.
