Banner Elk’s Small Town Christmas Dec 7th-9th

BANNER ELK, NC (November 26, 2018) — Banner Elk kicks off the holiday season with a weekend full of holiday fun! Friday begins with a tree lighting ceremony and Ensembles Stage’s Banner Elk Christmas.

Saturday is packed with events! From a 5k in the morning, Christmas Carol sing along at noon to the Parade of Lights in the evening, the day will be sure to create lasting memories! 

Saturday is the last chance to cast votes for your favorite Christmas tree in the Christmas tree festival. Cast your vote at the Banner Elk Chamber. The winner will be announced in the park after the Parade of Lights.

Sunday is a great day to relax and enjoy the many Choose and Cut tree farms in Avery County, and another chance to see Ensemble Stage’s Banner Elk Christmas.

Small Town Christmas 2018 Schedule

Christmas Tree Festival! Vote on your favorite tree at the Banner Elk Chamber of Commerce. Winner announced after the Parade.

Friday, December 7th:

6:30 pm Tree Lighting at the Corner on Main St.

7:00pm- Ensemble Stages: “A Banner Elk Christmas” – A Holiday Musical Variety Show

Saturday, December 8th

8:30am- 5k Reindeer Run in Tate Evans Park with Williams YMCA sponsored by Kiwanis Club of Banner Elk

9:00am-10:30am-Pancake Breakfast with Santa at Dunn’s Deli

10am-4pm Christmas At Apple Hill Farm

10am-4pm New Opportunity School For Women Holiday Market at Lees McRae Cannon Student Center

10am-4pm BE Artists Gallery will be open with a focus on original Christmas gifts

10am-6pm Paw-licious Hot Cocoa at My Best Friend’s Barkery

10am-5pm- Enjoy a Holiday Treat at Banner Elk Olive Oil and Balsamics

11am-12pm Story Time with Santa at the Book Exchange

12pm-2pm Community Christmas Jam at the Book Exchange- All ages and skill levels welcome! Sing Along books Available

1pm-3pm Ornament Decorating at the Bayou Smokehouse and Grill

3pm-4pm Cookie Decorating at Banner Elk Café

3pm-5pm Wreathmaking Demo, Wassail and Fruitcake at Stonewalls

6pm Parade of Lights

Following the Parade there will be fun in the park including: Luminary lighted train rides, special light show, Karaoke with DJ Pete Welter and Meet Santa! Also the winner of the Christmas Tree contest will be announced.

Sunday, December 9th

A great day to check out Banner Elk’s local shops and visit one of Avery Counties Choose and Cut Christmas Tree farms!
