GRANITE FALLS, NC (May 11, 2017)…There will be a special exhibit of Bank of Granite memorabilia at the Granite Falls History and Transportation Museum during the months of May and June. Founded in 1906, the Bank of Granite, which was once heralded by Warren Buffet for its excellent performance over its 100+ year history, merged with Community One in 2013 after failing to recover from economic problems during the Great Recession. The merged bank was acquired by Capital Bank during the past year. On display are old Bank of Granite ledger books, photos, logo items, posters, newspaper/magazine clippings, etc. Persons visiting the museum will receive a white erasable board with the Bank of Granite logo while supplies last. Admission is free. Persons making donations will receive Town of Granite Centennial Christmas ornaments and/or copies of the Bank of Granite’s 100th Anniversary DVD while supplies last.
Located at 107 Falls Avenue, the museum is open on Saturdays from noon until 4 pm and on Sundays from 2 until 4 pm except holiday weekends (Mother’s Day and Memorial Day). To arrange a private tour during the week, call the Town Office at (828) 396-3131.
