Assessment Teams working in areas flooded this weekend

LENOIR, NC (May 21, 2018)…Three assessment teams have begun going to door to door in the Wilson Creek and Edgemont areas of Caldwell County to determine damages and needs after heavy flooding in the area over the weekend.

Each team includes someone from Caldwell County law enforcement, Emergency Services, the Health Department and the American Red Cross.

Areas being surveyed include Highway 90/Edgemont Road, Brown Mountain Beach Road north of the Wilson Creek Visitor Center and roads surrounding those areas.

Teams will be determining the amount and kind of damages to homes as well as damage to wells and septic systems.  They will also be handing out information to residents about how to manage damage to those systems.

The Wilson Creek and Johns River areas of Caldwell County experienced major flooding on Friday night into Saturday after heavy rain fell just north of the area.
