Arson deemed as cause of Sawmills apartment complex fire

SAWMILLS, NC (March 9, 2017)…Sheriff Alan C. Jones announces that during the morning hours of 03/09/2017, Deputies with the Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office, along with Fire and Rescue Personnel from multiple agencies, responded to a reported Structure Fire at an apartment complex located on Oak Tree Lane in the Sawmills Community of Caldwell County. Once the fire was contained Fire Investigators were able to determine that the fire was a result of Arson.

Fire Investigators along with Detectives were able to determine circumstances connected to the intentionally set fire, including the fact that the apartment complex was occupied at the time fire was set. A suspect, Timothy Allan Harmon, Age 33, has been identified in this case and warrants for arrest for 1st Degree Arson and 1st Degree Kidnapping have been issued. Harmon fled the scene prior to the arrival of Law Enforcement.
