GRANITE FALLS, NC (October 26, 2016)…On October 25, 2016, an arrest warrant was issued for the individual responsible for the First Citizens Bank and Trust robbery that occurred on October 3, 2016, in Granite Falls. On October 26, 2016, Dewey Lee Gentry Jr. voluntarily surrendered to Detective Clint Ferguson at the Granite Falls Police Department. Detective Ferguson served the arrest warrant on Mr. Gentry without incident. Mr. Gentry was charged with (1) one count of Common Law Robbery, N.C.G.S. 14-87.1. Mr. Gentry has a first appearance in Caldwell County District Court on October 27, 2016.
The Granite Falls Police Department worked closely with the Federal Bureau of Investigation during this investigation. Assistance from citizens and the media helped investigators generate Mr. Gentry as a suspect. All assistance is greatly appreciated. The investigation is still ongoing.
