Above and Beyond Recognition

GRANITE FALLS, NC (April 19, 2019) — Luann MacCall, CSW, social worker at Hickory Falls Health and Rehabilitation, received Caldwell Hospice’s Above and Beyond award for the first quarter of 2019 for her exemplary work and attitude.

“Luann is so supportive to residents and their families,” said Caldwell Hospice’s medical social worker Amy Umsted, BSW, who made a nomination. “Residents often voice their appreciation for Luann’s help with many issues. She is a fervent advocate for residents’ rights!”

Caldwell Hospice chaplain John Robbins, MDiv, BCCC, who also nominated MacCall, said “she is a tremendous asset to the residents’ care team and is instrumental in the midst of difficult family dynamics.”

“Luann MacCall has been a social worker at Hickory Falls Health and Rehabilitation for 33 years,” said Brandee Jones, LNHA, Hickory Falls administrator. “She is a graduate of High Point University and is an avid NC State fan. Luann puts her whole heart and soul into caring for her residents and their families and is a complete blessing to everyone she encounters. Hickory Falls is absolutely blessed to have her here! She is such an asset to our team!”

When asked why she chose a career in social work, MacCall said “Because at the end of the day I feel like I’ve made a difference. That keeps me going!”

The Above and Beyond award is presented quarterly by Caldwell Hospice to recognize staff members of area healthcare or long-term-care facilities who encourage quality end-of-life care for residents/patients and their families. Caldwell Hospice staff and volunteers nominate recipients.

For over 36 years, Caldwell Hospice has provided respectful, compassionate, quality end-of-life care and services to all who need and desire them, wherever they call home, including area long-term-care facilities, private residences, hospitals, or in their two inpatient facilities.
