Early morning disturbance and shots fired at Granite Falls home
GRANITE FALLS, NC (February 8, 2019) — The Granite Falls Police Department is investigating an incident where shots were fired at a residence this morning.
At 5:43am, the Granite Falls Police Department was dispatched to a fight at 38 Laurel Street. Several people were at that location when officers arrived. After an investigation, officers referred all of the people involved to pursue charges by contacting a Magistrate. Officers left the scene after everyone left.
At 7:09am, the Police Department was dispatched to gun shots being fired at that same location. Officers arrived on scene and found spent shell casings and damage to the residence.
Mackenzie Rae Headrick, white female, age 18 and others were at the residence during both incidences. Mackenzie’s mother and brother live at the residence, but both were not there at the time. The only injuries reported at the two incidences were minor scrapes and bruises.

This incident was not connected to the other incident at Granite Falls Middle School that took place at approximately 2pm on Friday, February 8, 2019.
Records indicate that the property at 38 Laurel Street is owned by Marshall Hiat of Winston-Salem.
