Make-up day for Career Center Middle College and Early College

LENOIR, NC (December 13, 2018) — Due to one the heaviest December snowfalls on record, schools have been closed for students three days this week, Monday, Dec. 10 through Wednesday, Dec. 12. Students returned to school on Thursday, Dec. 13 with a 3-hour delay and limited bus transportation services.

Families were notified earlier that school buses would not travel on any secondary roads with remaining ice or snow causing unsafe driving conditions. Students absent today due to the inability to travel to school safely will be considered as an excused absence.

At the high school level, the exam schedule begins tomorrow through the end of next week, which concludes the first semester for high school students.

The Caldwell Early College High School and the Career Center Middle College will make up one of the missed days on Wednesday, Dec. 19. These two innovative high schools located on the campus of Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute (CCC&TT) operate on a different school calendar than the other 24 schools in the district. The Early and Middle College calendar is more closely aligned with classes at CCC&TI.

Additional minutes were added to the school day in 2018-2019 to allow for more options in making up days missed due to inclement weather. Any further make-up days will be announced later as the district moves throughout the winter season.
