A Reading from the local mystery “The Glass River” with LB Sedlacek
LENOIR, NC (August 26, 2018) — Local poet and author, Laura Sedlacek (writing as LB Sedlacek) will read passages from and discuss her locally set mystery book “The Glass River.” The book is set in Caldwell county and features many local locales such as Happy Valley, the Yadkin River, etc. The book tells the story of Private Detective Chance Richardson who stumbles upon the brutally murdered body of Al Bryant near Happy Valley – the site of the infamous real-life Tom Dooley murder of Laura Foster – after intercepting a CB broadcast. A local town drunk, Henry Lee Coffey, is found near the crime scene and arrested. Chance’s pal, newspaper reporter Kelly Grant, is asked by her former high school nemesis to check into it. Chance and Kelly start nosing around and dig a little into the Tom Dooley legend. The event is free and open to the public. A book signing will follow the reading.
Thursday, Sept 20th – 6:30pm, Caldwell Heritage Museum – 112 Vaiden St., Lenoir
Laura has been writing poetry and stories since attending Graduate School. Recently she began to focus her works on the Caldwell County area. She is creator of “Poetry in LA (Lenoir Area)” poems and has given several poetry readings from her book of local poems.
