Foundation of Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute announces Culinary Arts scholarships

HUDSON, NC (April 13, 2018)…The Foundation of Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute announced its first two endowed Culinary Arts scholarships Thursday at the final Caldwell Cuisine event of the semester. Foundation Executive Director Marla Christie and Foundation Board of Directors Chairwoman Peg Broyhill announced the new scholarships and presented the awards to two current Culinary Arts students. The Edwin Dana Peters Culinary Scholarship was established in memory of Ed Peters, a Caldwell County native, U.S. Air Force Vietnam veteran and active local philanthropist. It was presented to Logan Hundley of Hickory. The Linda C. Waters Scholarship, established in memory of Linda Waters, a local artist, Caldwell County Schools art teacher and mother of Marty Waters, a Foundation of CCC&TI Board member – was expanded by the Waters Family to include one art student and one culinary student scholarship annually. The first Culinary Arts recipient is Jerry Griffin of Lenoir.
