RALEIGH, NC (March 3, 2017)…The following are highlights from this week at the N.C. Department of Transportation. The stories below are also featured in NCDOT Now, the department’s weekly newscast.
The weather is warmer and spring break is around the corner, but before drivers take the wheel for some fun in the sun, it’s important to remember safety advice.
“The most important feature in every vehicle is the driver,” said State Traffic Engineer Kevin Lacy. “An attentive driver is very important, especially in work zones because that’s when you have a lot of changing conditions and other activities taking place. That attention level is absolutely imperative.”
Safety is NCDOT’s highest priority when it comes to those who travel the state’s roads. No matter your desired destination, or the distance, it’s always important to:
• Buckle up and make sure your passengers do too;
• Stay alert and avoid in-car distractions. One text or call could wreck it all;
• Be patient and don’t speed or tailgate;
• Don’t drink and drive;
• Use alternate routes, when possible, to avoid traffic congestion, or leave early to get a head start on your drive and travel at non-peak times; and
• Remember to pay attention in work zones.
Vehicle Property Tax Receipts Now Available on NCDMV Website
It’s also tax season, and thanks to a new online service offered by the N.C. Division of Motor Vehicles, drivers now have a convenient way to view and print their individual property tax receipts.
NC DMV encourages vehicle owners to use this new feature on the website as part of their continued commitment to great customer service.
The MyDMV portal, which has been a feature since 2015, also provides North Carolina drivers and vehicle owners with information on their driver license status, expiration dates and vehicle registration.
