Western Piedmont Symphony Opens 53rd Season with World Premiere

HICKORY, NC (September 14, 2017)…Under the direction of Maestro John Gordon Ross, the award winning Western Piedmont Symphony will perform Masterworks I, Rhapsody in Blue, at 7:30 pm on Saturday, October 7 at P.E. The first concert explores music from across the globe. WPS is pleased to present the return of pianist, Michael Lewin, who will perform Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue. Additional works by Moncayo, Still, and Gottschalk will be performed as the orchestra travels across the globe.  The evening will end with the World Premiere of composer Dan Locklair’s Symphony #2 America.  This concert was made possible through the generous support of Dr. Brian Adair, Carl & Sharon Cline, Becky & Forrest Ferrell, Dr. Tom & Sandra Foster, Kevin & D’Ann Grell and Chip & Lynn Young.
