Valmead Fire Rescue receives grant money that will allow them to better serve their community

LENOIR, NC (January 18, 2019) — Valmead Fire Rescue received a $158,456 check signed by Congressman Mark Meadows for a FEMA S.A.F.E.R. grant.

These funds will be distributed to the department over a 4-year period to assist in adequate staffing through a call reimbursement program, training incentive program and much needed turnout gear. This grant will allow the men and women of Valmead Fire Rescue to better serve their community through an increased number of certified firefighters, more training and protective fire gear.

Each year, Valmead Fire Rescue responds to approximately 400 calls ranging from medical calls to structure fires and vehicle accidents.
