Smoke from White Creek Fire in Burke and Catawba Counties

NEBO, NC (March 21, 2017)…Residents of southern Burke and Catawba Counties are experiencing smoke this afternoon from the White Creek Fire, burning in the Linville Gorge Wilderness Area. The fire continues to burn well within containment lines.

The weather system moving through the area has pushed smoke from the fire to the south and east. Smoke will impact areas between Lake James and Hickory through this evening.

More information regarding the status of the fire will be released later this afternoon.
