Caldwell County School closures and make-up days

LENOIR, NC (January 19, 2018)…Monday, January 22, 2018 is one of the make-up days for school closures experienced this week due to severe, wintry weather conditions. All students, faculty and staff will be back in school on Monday, January 22, 2018, a day originally slated as a planning day for teachers.

Students in grades 9-12 at Hibriten, South Caldwell and West Caldwell will be completing their first semester exams on Monday, January 22 and Tuesday, January 23. High school administration will notify students directly with more details on exam revisions.

Students missed three days of school this week, from Wednesday, January 17 to Friday, January 19 and were out of school on Monday, January 8, due to winter weather advisories and hazardous weather conditions.

According to North Carolina law, public school calendars must have a minimum of 185 days or 1,025 hours of instruction. Making up the remaining days will be determined as the district moves through the winter months ahead with the possibility of additional weather conditions.
