Caldwell County Firefighters Deployed

CALDWELL COUNTY, NC (September 16, 2018) — Firefighters from Caldwell County, including two from Caldwell County Emergency Service’s Fire Division, have been activated at the request of North Carolina’s State Emergency Operations Center in response to the impact of Hurricane Florence.

A four-man crew, comprised of firefighters from Sawmills Fire & Rescue and Caldwell County Emergency Services, has been deployed as a portion of a request by the Office of the State Fire Marshal. The team is currently assigned to Bolivia, North Carolina (Brunswick County) to assist in providing manpower for emergency operations in the area. Additional crews are on standby ready to travel and immediately assist in emergency response efforts following the hurricane.

“As has become the norm with emergency personnel in Caldwell County, departments are once again stepping up to help their fellow North Carolinians,” said Chief of Caldwell County Emergency Services, Dino DiBernardi. “This crew will be tasked with providing support for the existing emergency services in the region, to include fire suppression, medical treatment, evacuations and more.”

The Sawmills and Caldwell County personnel will be paired with other 4 man teams from the NC Air Guard, Orange Rural, Shelby and Locke Fire Departments.
