A wonderful journey down the “Yellow Brick Road”

GRANITE FALLS, NC (August 24, 2018 by Lee Jackson) — One does not have to go far to enjoy great entertainment.  Last night, the Caldwell Journal had the privilege of attending the “Wizard of Oz” presented by CAST.  From Kansas to Oz, from Toto to the Munchkins we saw amazing talent put forth to entertain the audience.  The four main characters played by Raegan Conard, (Dorothy), Nicholas Grozier, (Scarecrow), Justice Kirkpatrick, (Tin Man), and Stephen Starnes, (Cowardly Lion), led the way for an awesome stage performance.

The audience did not only see the actors on stage but became part of the play.  We were in the poppy fields as Dorothy, the Scarecrow, the Tin Man and the Cowardly Lion fell asleep from the snow.  (On a personal note, the Lion did not hesitate to fall asleep on my lap) Then, we were in the midst of Oz, as the Wizard was giving the command to kill the Wicked Witch of the West.  We laughed at the “yellow brick road” played by CJ Ryder and Kaitlyn Willet and wanted to follow them on their adventure to Oz.  The personalities of the trees played by Amber Baker, Kaylie Bryson, Bianca Pittman and Caroline Stallings added a new twist from the original movie.  Bethany Spears played the Wicked Witch of the West and gave the witch a new sass as she tried to get Dorothy and the ruby slippers.

Many thanks to Kathy Stallings and all the members of CAST.  We truly enjoyed a night of laughter and entertainment.  We encourage everyone to attend this local theater of talent.
